The Cockburn Basketball Association is pleased to announce the appointment of NBL1 official Luke Doe to the role of referee coordinator, effective immediately.
Doe is a current NBL1 West official, and has experience refereeing Australian National Junior Championships.
In addition, he has most recently been a sub-committee member working with Wanneroo Basketball’s officials.
Cockburn Basketball Chief Executive Tyrone Thwaites said he was excited to have someone of Doe’s experience join the Cougar Family.
“We were very lucky to have a number of high-quality candidates apply for this role,” Thwaites said.
“Luke (Doe) brings the level of experience we were chasing, relatability to our junior officials, and the understanding of what it takes to develop a strong referee program.
“Having him come into our community alongside the operational experience of Simon Petersen in our competititons team, this is very exciting for our junior officials.
“It’s important we set-up a long-term pathway for our officials, we acknowledge this is something we need to be better at, and Luke is the first step towards a big future for Cougar Family referees.”
Doe commences today, with a gradual on-court presence to build up in time for the winter season as development plan preparations ramp up in the interim.
